Weird Diaper Rash--help!! it isn't a yeast infection, so what could it be?

My dd has had this funky, red rash on her hoo-ha for over a month now. I first treated it as a diaper rash (with triple paste), then treated it as a yeast infection (lotrimum, monistat--she had one before and this is what the dr. recommended) and it is still not going away. I change her diaper very frequently and don't have a clue what else to do. I picked up some sensitive skin wipes and some different diapers, so I am going to try that today. Any other suggestions?
thanks.

My baby boy had something like that for over 2 months. I tried everything too and even went to the pedi 2x. One of the drs I work with suggested plain old corn starch out of the baking isle so thats what we tried and within 2-3 days it looked 99% better and gone within a week!

Hi,
I haven't had this problem but my mom has told me a bunch about diaper rash. She said if it's not the diapers(which you're trying to find out) then it could be something you're eating(if breastfeeding) or if she's old enough it could be something she's eating. Something is acidic and it's affecting her. If changing diapers doesn't work then maybe evaluate your/her diet. And I've also found that peneten diaper cream works the best for us..not sure if you've tried it. Hope that helps!

Stop using wipes, even sensitive ones. Use just water
instead....on a papertowel, on a washcloth. Doing that ALWAYS
helps clear up diaper rash.

My daughter had a yeast infection that lotrimin did nothing for. She ended up needing a prescription cream to clear it - took 3 weeks of treatment. So if you only think it's not a yeast infection b/c that's not working, that may not be the case - she may just need something stronger. ? Definitely stop with the wipes at least until the rash clears, and let her play without a diaper on several times a day to dry out the area.

have you tried a different brand of diapers? Also I found that diaper cream with zinc oxide was way to drying and would make it worse. Have you tried A&D Original? Have you tried hydracortisone cream?

Eczema? Might try hydrocortisone cream. That's what cleared up DS privates when he had a reaction to Luvs.

Unscented wipes or even just plain old neosporin (I use one with a pain reliever) and it can clear up a rash overnight. Otherwise, just keep trying the triple paste but put a layer of cornstarch over it to keep the diaper from rubbing it off - we call it Paste and Powder in our house and it seems to work well on my boys.
I know how frustrating that is.

I would probably contact your pedi just be safe.
I've had a bad rash and itching under my breasts for the last 2 weeks. Went to the doc (who is also our pedi) and he thought it was a yeast infection. Nope. Yesterday I went back because the Diflucan and spray didn't help, it actually got worse. Turns out I have scabies!!!
My point is that you might think it's one thing, but it turns out to be something else, so have your DD checked just in case.

DD has had a bad diaper rash the last week or so. We figure it's due to her teething (I think she's getting her molars). My friend said that she put vasoline on her DD's (it won't clear it up but it'll keep it from coming back once you clear it up) - it didn't work well for us. A daycare worker said to use A&D with cornstarch. I generally use desitin & baby powder and it usually gets better over night.
