This is a list of women who are dealing with PCOS. Anyone can join in, so let me know if you want to be on this list! We can keep track of everyone’s cycle, offer advice, and support for each other. We check in every Tuesday and Thursday, and the check-ins can always be found in the PCOSbio.

Good luck and lots of sticky baby dust to everyone!

QOTD: Question from livvielo: How do you really treat PCOS? All my bloodwork came back within normal ranges, so my two symptoms are irregular periods and polycystic ovaries. Is there anything I can/should do, or is it more of a just deal with it type of syndrome?

Hi!

QOTD: Losing weight (if you are overweight) can help tremendously even though it can be harder for PCOS-ers and I know personally that stress levels affect my cycles immensely.

When I go on holiday in the summer for 3-4 weeks I have at least one regular cycle and then one or two more when I come back home. But then they go haywire. Right now I'm very stressed and have had a period for the last 4 to 5 weeks. This only happened twice before, the most memorable being as a bullied teenager.

I think PCOS-ers should get a special fund for holidays to regulate our cycles lol. ;)

Update: Nothing new to report :)

QOTD: Weight loss is what is supposed to really help keep PCOS under control (like pp said, if you're overweight). And again, like pp, it's much more difficult for PCOS'ers to lose weight. The South Beach Diet, a diabetic diet, or even merely limiting your carb intake can really help the process. I try to keep my carb intake lower than 100mg/day. Lower if I can. I've tried atkins and it made me sick with so little carbs, so now I'm just limiting how much I have a day. HTH!

Definitely controlling sugar/refined carbohydrate intake helps immensely. Working out regularly is also very beneficial. I take Cinnamon Bark herbal supplements which help regulate blood sugar and also Vitex (Chasteberry Tree) which helps the hormonal part.

Update: this cycle tried follistim, have 1 maybe 2 mature follies -- first IUI scheduled for this weekend :)

QOTD: for me, it's more a "deal with it" syndrome. My only PCOS symptoms are irregular periods/ annovulation and cystic ovaries. I am normal weight, not IR, normal bloodwork, etc. I dont know of any way to "treat" my symptoms other than taking ovulation inducation medications. I've always been on BCP to regulate my periods while I wasnt TTC. I wonder whether a low sugar/carb diet would help me even though I am not overweight and am not IR.

GL everyone!

My labs are always normal too. My RE was willing to put me on Met b/c I'm overweight, a little bit hairy, and zitty, then he was all for the met once he saw my ovaries. He also told me to eat helthy carbs and try to avoid bread/flour products as much as possible (even whole wheat) He also pushes exercise.

Well, I am onto my next cycle, so I am back onto 100mg of clomid. No big deal, just have to be more careful of watching for fertile signs.

qotd: pcos is a syndrome so all you can do is treat the symptoms. You need to watch your weight and your sugar levels (if not IR now, needs checked once a year) to keep away from diabetes. If left untreated, pcos can lead to diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease and cancer because it never goes away completely and you will have to live with it for the rest of your life.

5 Steps to Simpler Bills
You’ve merged your lives, and possibly your accounts, but now you have all this extra stuff to manage, including more bills. But it doesn’t have to be so painful (except for the parting with your money part). Follow our tips to make this chore quick and efficient.

Step 1: Get organized.
No, it’s not impossible! In fact, our way is simple -- and makes life easier too.

How? Start by establishing a clear division of which spouse pays which bills, or by putting one of you in charge of all payments. When the next bill arrives, toss out the junky extra paper stuffed inside and file your statement in a specific place -- your organizer, a filing cabinet, anywhere with easy access. Then go to the calendar you check every day, write the bill’s name on its due date (or the date you need to mail the check by), and highlight it in pink. With your paydays in mind, select one or two days of each month (preferably the day you get paid) to write checks. This way, you can budget the rest of your month based on what’s left in the bank.

Step 2: Consolidate billing cycles.
It’s no fun to feel like everyone is demanding a piece of your paycheck all the time. But getting all your statements on a schedule that works for you will allow you to attack other projects.

How? Ask your credit card and utility companies if you can select a new due date. Depending on your financial situation, you might want all bills due at one time and be done with them or have them spaced out twice a month. After the first schedule is made, you will know what to expect every month.
